John Carpenter announces new project Cathedral

John Carpenter has announced a new audiovisual project, Cathedral. On August 7, Carpenter, with collaborators Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, will release the new album via Sacred Bones. Cathedral is a soundtrack that ties in with a new graphic novel, also titled Cathedral, which will be released August 4. The first single is “Lord of the Underground,” which you can hear below.
“I thought, ‘I have to score this.’ It’s kind of our first heavy metal album,” Carpenter said in a statement.
“The story informed everything,” Davies added. “John would describe a scene and say, ‘We need a heavy riff here.’ We didn’t set out to make a metal record, but it evolved that way.”
