Yasiin Bey to reissue Mos Def’s The Ecstatic

Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, is reissuing his 2009 album The Ecstatic and returning it to streaming after a long time out of print and unavailable on DSPs. The acclaimed album featured production from Madlib, Oh No, and the late J Dilla, and was originally released via Downtown. On August 14, Rhymesayers will release reissued versions of the album, including a deluxe version with a hardcover book and a bonus 7-inch featuring non-album tracks, “The Size” and “The Tournament.”

The album also returns to streaming via a partnership with Qobuz, a platform that streaming platform that boasts high audio fidelity and industry-leading pay-per-stream for artists.

Mos Def’s The Ecstatic was one of our top 50 albums of 2009. We also included the album on our list of Our 100 Favorite Hip-Hop Albums of the 21st Century.
