Ekko Astral and trans rights collective Gender Liberation Movement have announced Liberation Weekend, a two-day festival taking place in Washington, D.C. on May 30-31 as part of WorldPride 2025. The festival is being held at two venues, Black Cat and DC9, and will feature performances from Ekko Astral, Home Is Where, Speedy Ortiz, Ted Leo, The Ophelias, Zora, Pinkshift, Combat, Pure Adult, plus a an official Red Hot Org/TRAИƧA showcase featuring L’Rain, Bartees Strange and Asher White. See the full lineup on the flyer above.

All net proceeds will go to Gender Liberation Movement to help fund future events including rallies, demonstrations, and protests in response to the rise of anti-trans policymaking in the US. Tickets for events at the two venues are sold separately. Find them both here.

“The reason we’re putting this event on is simple: artists of all genders and genres should stand in vocal support of the trans community,” said Jael Holzman of Ekko Astral. “If you stand for freedom of expression, you support trans rights. If you believe in loving your neighbor, you support trans rights. Music is humanity’s most universal language—and we need our best artists to come together in support of our community now before it’s too late.”
