Bright Eyes and Cursive have mashed up two of their classic songs from the early ’00s to raise funds for Bright Eyes’ new Poison Oak Project – in support of LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations. Today, they’ve released “Recluse I Don’t Have to Love,” which is a mash-up of Cursive’s “The Recluse” and Bright Eyes’ “Lover I Don’t Have to Love,” which a friend of the two artists discovered had some similarities between them a long time ago. Now, they’ve finally made the mash-up happen, timed to coincide with Trans Day of Visibility, with proceeds from the sale of the single going to the Poison Oak Project, which according to a press release, is “dedicated to advancing equity for LGBTQ+ people, with a particular focus on supporting the trans community, by raising money for local LGBTQ+ organizations, both nationally and in each city along their US tour route.”

Hear the track below. The two bands are also touring together this spring.
