Hear Election Day playlists from Jason Isbell, Questlove, Spoon and more
It’s Election Day, which means we could all probably use some combination of motivation and musical therapy. Joy to the Polls has you covered. The initiative, launched by nonpartisan group Election Defenders, has brought together a bunch of artists to create election-day playlists. And it’s an impressive lineup of names. Jason Isbell’s playlist includes some rock-solid classics like Aretha Franklin’s “Respect,” James Brown’s “The Payback,” and The Zombies’ “This Will Be Our Year.” Britt Daniel of Spoon picked Prince’s “America,” The Clash’s “Know Your Rights,” and The Psychedelic Furs’ “President Gas.” And Questlove’s playlist includes Shuggie Otis’ “Aht Uh Mi Hed,” War’s “Sing a Happy Song,” and Can’s “I’m So Green.”
