Horse Lords and Arnold Dreyblatt announce collaborative FRKWYS album

The FRKWYS series on RVNG Intl has been running for 16 years, bringing together different experimental artists for inspired collaborations, like Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras with reggae pioneers The Congos, psychedelic outfit Blues Control with ambient architect Laraaji, and ambient vocalist Julianna Barwick with electroacoustic collagist Ikue Mori. The latest in the series brings together experimental group Horse Lords with minimalist composer Arnold Dreyblatt. FRKWYS Vol. 18: Extended Field, will be released on Nov. 21 via RVNG Intl. The first track from the album is “Advance,” which you can hear below.

Horse Lords’ Owen Gardner said about the collaboration, “Every turn reveals a surprising but somehow inevitable new chord, their progression strangely evocative of a Bach chorale both highly directed and without a goal.”

Horse Lords’ last album was 2022’s Comradely Objects, which was included on our list of the 50 Best Albums of 2022.
