On June 24, Mastodon will release Once More Round the Sun, their sixth album and follow-up to 2011’s The Hunter. This one’s a little less metal and a little more prog/hard rock. It’s a direction they’ve been headed in for some time, and they’re definitely making the most of it. If the thought of a Mastodon that’s moved a bit far away from the sludgy crunch of Blood Mountain worries you, fear not. There’s plenty of rocking out on this album, but you don’t have to take what we say at face value. You can stream it for yourself, via iTunes Radio.
