Mastodon’s new album is called Once More Round the Sun
Atlanta metal titans Mastodon have been slowly teasing their upcoming sixth album and follow-up to 2011’s The Hunter, and as of today, that album has a name: Once More Round the Sun. In an interview with Paste, bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders says of the album, “We’re all over the world as far as themes go… But there are a few sprinkles of epic goodness.”
He continues: “A lot of people ask us if it kicks off where The Hunter left off … And to a large degree, I suppose yes. We recorded it and took it on the road with us, and then we headed back to our rehearsal space and started working out ideas. I’ve had a lot of time to ingest this record, and it’s solid. It’s a large slab of granite. I’m once again completely proud of these guys.”
Paste also notes that the album does not yet have a release date, but that the album was recorded with Nick Raskulinecz in Tennessee, and will feature artwork by Skinner. As we wait for more details to come through the pike, the band has a series of spring North American tour dates lined up, which you can check out below.
