Morrissey to perform at Nobel Prize concert
Morrissey — a performer with a gift for turning spite and disgust into musical poetry — has found an unlikely new gig: He’s headlining the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, per a Facebook post. The concert is being held held on Dec 11, at the Spektrum in Oslo, and Morrissey will perform three songs. Also performing are Mary J. Blige, Japanese post-hardcore act Envy, UK singer/songwriters James Blunt and Jake Bugg, Syrian artist Omar Souleyman, and Timbuktu. Actress Claire Danes is hosting the show.
Tickets are available here.
The Nobel Prize committee, or their booking agents, presumably didn’t have a problem with Moz’s views on Margaret Thatcher. Hell hasn’t frozen over yet, though — Johnny Marr isn’t on the bill.
