Phoebe Bridgers releases cover of Merle Haggard’s “If We Make It Through December”
Phoebe Bridgers has a tradition of releasing a Christmas single at the end of each year, and she’s continuing that tradition this year. Today, she’s released a cover of Merle Haggard’s “If We Make It Through December,” with proceeds from the sale of the single benefiting the Downtown Women’s Center, which assists women affected by homelessness in Los Angeles. Hear it below.
Bridgers also recently released another charity cover, a recording of the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” with Maggie Rogers, which benefited voting rights organization Fair Fight. It was up for only 24 hours. Bridgers promised to release the cover if Donald Trump lost his reelection bid.
Bridgers’ most recent album is this year’s Punisher.
Back in June we named Punisher one of our favorite albums of 2020 so far. In the coming weeks, we’ll reveal where it landed on our official best of 2020 list.
