Rock Docs Podcast: 100th Episode special—History of the Eagles, with Jake Longstreth
Rock Docs is 100! 100 episodes that is—time to break out the bubbly! (Maybe there’s still a bottle or two left over from Treble’s 20th.) And for this momentous occasion, your hosts—Andy Keatts and David Lizerbram—are dedicating an episode to a sprawling and epic documentary about that most American of institutions, Eagles.
History of the Eagles is a 2013 film about the California rock band, directed by Alison Ellwood. It’s the Godfather of rock docs. It’s the ur-text from which this all began. Originally aired on Showtime in two parts in 2013, it’s 186 minutes chronicling one of the best-selling bands of all time, featuring commentary from members of the band—Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Bernie Leadon, Don Felder, Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmit—along with friends and collaborators such as Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Bob Seger and Stevie Nicks.
Our guest today is friend of the Rock Docs pod, American Painter Jake Longstreth, who’s in the bands Mountain Brews and Richard Pictures as well as being a co-host of the Internet Radio Show Time Crisis. Our longtime listeners may recall Jake previously joined us to discuss “We Are Twisted Fucking Sister!“
Also, the Rock Docs hosts highly recommend you read our recent In Concert article, Talking Heads’ Live in Rome captured a mesmerizing onstage chemistry.
