Rock Docs Podcast: Not Not Jazz with guest Josh Frisch of Dad Rocks Podcast
The Rock Docs team gets into the groove with a film on one of the most heralded jazz-funk groups of the 1990s and beyond: Medeski, Martin & Wood. They’re the subject of the film Not Not Jazz, directed by Jason Miller, and released earlier this year.
Not Not Jazz asks as many questions as it answers—when was it filmed? What happened to the music that was being recorded during the filming of the movie? Why is it coming out now? Is music really its own kind of language, man?
This week, there was also a little bit of confusion, as one of your hosts, Andy Keatts, watched a different Medeski, Martin & Wood documentary (kind of—you’ll find out!), and that ended up making the conversation a little more interesting as a result.
This week’s guest is Josh Frisch of the Dad Rocks podcast, which David and Andy of Rock Docs were on years ago, and now they get to return the favor.
Hear the new episode below, and watch the trailer as well. Not Not Jazz is streaming on Apple TV.
