Run the Jewels to perform RTJ4 via Adult Swim live stream
Run the Jewels have just announced that they’ll be performing their new album, RTJ4, in its entirety in a special live stream performance via Adult Swim. The special will air on Adult Swim on October 10 at midnight Eastern time, and will then be streaming on Adult Swim’s YouTube channel after the special wraps up. This will be the live debut of the hip-hop duo’s fourth album, and the show is also intended to help encourage voter turnout in the November election. “We’re proud to be a part of this initiative to encourage and enable voting and can’t wait to finally perform our album RTJ4,” Killer Mike and El-P said about the performance in a press release. “This will be fun.”
The performance is titled “Holy Calamavote” and is sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s. There will be no commercial interruptions during the show. In addition to promoting voter turnout, viewers will also be prompted to donate to the ACLU.
Jabari Paul, U.S. activism manager at Ben & Jerry’s, says in the same press release, “Young people are the single largest block of voters, and if they turn out at the same rate as their parents, they have the power to hold elected officials accountable on issues like policing and public safety, climate change, education, jobs and the economy. That’s why we are proud that Run the Jewels is helping spread that word and we’re pleased to be working with Adult Swim to make this exciting night happen.”
Run the Jewels’ RTJ4 is featured on our list of the 33 Best Albums of 2020 So Far.
