Steve Gunn announces instrumental album, Music for Writers

Steve Gunn has announced a new solo, instrumental albums. On August 15 he’ll release Music for Writers via Three Lobed. Today he’s shared the new track “Slow Singers on the Hill.” Hear it below.

Gunn said in a statement, “It is music made in both stillness and motion, music that listens as much as it speaks. Each track offers a space—open, textured, often slow-moving—where ideas, images, and feelings drift in and out. It’s a record I’ve been thinking about and wanting to make for a long time – my first solo instrumental album.”

In 2021, Gunn released Other You. Gunn-Truscinski Duo’s FLAM is featured on our list of 16 Great Albums You Might Have Missed from Winter/Spring 2025.
