Tribulation have returned with a new single. The Swedish gothic metal group have released “Hamartia,” released via Century Media, which is their first single with guitarist Joseph Tholl, who joined the band after the departure of founding guitarist Jonathan Hultén. (Tholl plays in Enforcer, of which Tribulation’s Adam Zaars was once a member.) The new song is a catchy and gloomy hybrid of the band’s signature gothic rock and black metal with touches of classic heavy metal and hard rock. It rips, of course, and it’s as much fun as you remember it.
“This is a song about the many shades of the word Hamartia,” Zaars said in a press release. “It’s an angry gothic tragedy sonically, and introduces Joseph on guitar. This is the first of a few. We hope you like it!” Watch the video for the song below, directed by Johan Bååth & Astrid Bergdahl.
Tribulation’s last album was 2021’s Where the Gloom Becomes Sound.
Where the Gloom Becomes Sound was featured on our list of the 25 Best Metal Albums of 2021.
