Wilco and Billy Bragg to perform Mermaid Avenue at Solid Sound festival

Wilco‘s Solid Sound festival is happening on June 26-28 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts. And while the lineup hasn’t yet been announced, one unique performance has just been revealed. For the first time ever, Wilco and Billy Bragg will perform the entirety of Mermaid Avenue, their series of collaborative albums they released in 1998 and 2000, using source material written by folk legend Woody Guthrie.
Jeff Tweedy said in a statement, “The world needs all the Woody Guthrie it can get. We’re thrilled that we get to bring these songs to life with Billy.”
Bragg added, “There’s an abiding love out there for the Mermaid Avenue albums, so I’m really looking forward to reconnecting with Wilco to bring Woody’s words to life once again.”
More info and tickets can be found at the Solid Sound website.
Wilco’s last album was 2023’s Cousin. Their 1999 album summerteeth is featured on our list of the 150 Best Albums of the 1990s. Earlier this year, Jeff Tweedy released his triple album, Twilight Override.
