Stream the new Heems album, Eat Pray Thug

Himanshu Suri, aka Heems — the New York emcee, formerly of Das Racist — is releasing his debut solo album, Eat Pray Thug, next week via Megaforce. He’s already released a couple tracks from the album, including “Home,” his collaboration with Dev Hynes of Blood Orange. But today, the album is available to stream in its entirety, courtesy of NPR Music.

The album, described by Heems as “post-9/11 dystopian brown man rap,” covers matters both personal and political, discussing issues of drug abuse, race, love and other topics, with lots of dazzling wordplay at that. It’s a complex, honest record by an emcee who has never pulled any punches, and it’s definitely worth your time to give it a spin.
