Caribou, Drake on Polaris Prize 2015 shortlist
Just a couple weeks ago, the Polaris Music Prize announced the longlist for 2015, and this morning, that group was whittled down to a slimmer, more manageable group of 10. Here’s the Polaris Music Prize 2015 shortlist: Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Tobias Jesso Jr.’s Goon, The New Pornographers’ Brill Bruisers, Caribou’s Our Love, Alvvays’ Alvvays, BADBADNOTGOOD/Ghostface Killah’s Sour Soul, Braids’ Deep in the Iris, Jennifer Castle’s Pink City, Buffy Sainte-Marie’s Power in the Blood, and Viet Cong’s Viet Cong.
On Sept. 21, the winner will be revealed at the Polaris Music Prize Gala. The winner will receive a $50,000 cash prize, and last year the prize went to Tanya Tagaq, for her album Animism. Past winners include Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy), Fucked Up, Caribou, Feist and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
The Polaris Music Prize is chosen by a jury of 196 Canadian music journalists every year, and honors the best album by a Canadian artist.
