Listen to new Deafheaven song, “Brought to the Water”
On Oct. 2, Deafheaven will release their third album New Bermuda, which follows 2013’s Sunbather, via Anti- Records. And today, they’ve just revealed the first song to be released from the album. It’s the leadoff track, “Brought to the Water,” and it’s a beast. The song seems to extend from where their last newly released track, “From the Kettle Onto the Coil,” leads, with some heavier black metal elements, post-punk darkness and ’80s heavy metal leads. It’s rife with darkness and beauty, just as the best Deafheaven songs are.
“We wanted to share ‘Brought to the Water’ first because it gives a good idea of the overall sonic tone of the record and really evokes feelings that come with uprooting and throwing oneself into the complacent, monotonous routine of adulthood,” says vocalist George Clarke in a statement.
