Earlier this year, Japandroids announced their first shows in a couple years, having recently wrapped up a batch of those shows in October. And at several of those dates, they performed some new songs, including “No Known Drink or Drug” and “Near to the Wild Heart of Life.” Now the band has finally announced a new album, Near to the Wild Heart of Life. It’s the band’s first album in five years, and it’ll be released in 2017 via Anti-. The tracklist hasn’t yet been released, so we don’t know for sure what songs will be on the album, though it’s probably a safe bet the title track will be one of them.
Watch a trailer for the new album below. Near to the Wild Heart of Life follows 2012’s Celebration Rock.
