This year’s nominees have been announced for the Mercury Prize, awarded to the best British album of the year decided by a panel of artists and journalists as well as industry professionals. The winner will be announced on September 7 at a ceremony at Hammersmith Apollo.

The nominees this year are Arctic Monkeys’ The Car, Jessie Ware’s That! Feels Good!, Jockstrap’s I Love You Jennifer B, Ezra Collective’s Where I’m Meant to Be, Fred Again..’s Actual Life 3, J Hus’s Beautiful and Brutal Yard, Lankum’s False Lankum, Loyle Carner’s Hugo, Olivia Dean’s Messy, Raye’s My 21st Century Blues, Shygirl’s Nymph, and Young Fathers’ Heavy Heavy.

Arctic Monkeys are now tied with Radiohead for having the most Mercury Prize nominations. Yet while Radiohead have never won, Arctic Monkeys took the prize in 2006 for their album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.

Last year’s Mercury Prize winner was Little Simz’s Sometimes I Might Be Introvert.
