The Mountain Goats, Makaya McCraven, Kevin Morby to play Big Ears 2023

Big Ears Festival returns to Knoxville, Tennessee in 2023. The festival takes place on March 30 to April 2 at various venues in Knoxville, and today the full lineup has been revealed. The Big Ears 2023 lineup includes Amadou & Mariam, The Bad Plus, The Mountain Goats, Devendra Banhart, Andrew Bird, Iron and Wine, Ibeyi, Vijay Iyer (including a collaborative performance with Arooj Aftab and Shahzad Ismaily), Rickie Lee Jones, Charles Lloyd, Makaya McCraven, Los Lobos, Kevin Morby, Pino Palladino and Blake Mills, William Parker, The Weather Station, James “Blood” Ulmer, Marc Ribot, Son Lux, Christian McBride, Calexico, Steve Gunn, Bonny Light Horseman, Mary Halvorson, 700 Bliss, Lonnie Holley, Bill Orcutt Guitar Quartet, and more. Plus John Zorn will be performing eight shows as part of a special 70th birthday celebration, including a performance by Painkiller, his jazz-grind collaborative outfit featuring Bill Laswell and ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo.
