Evan Rachel Wood accuses Marilyn Manson of abuse
Evan Rachel Wood has accused Marilyn Manson of grooming and abusing her in both an Instagram post and statement to Vanity Fair. In the post she writes, “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”
Vanity Fair has also published statements from four other women who shared their experiences with Marilyn Manson. Manson has not yet responded to any of these statements.
Wood first discussed experiencing “physical, psychological, [and] sexual” abuse from a partner with Rolling Stone in 2016, and in 2018 she testified before a House Judiciary Subcommittee to voice her support for the Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights.
Manson had previously been the subject of a sexual assault case in 2011, which was publicly revealed in 2018. Manson’s lawyer denied the claims. Manson also faced accusations of assault with a deadly weapon and battery, but was never charged due to the statute of limitations expiring.
