Khruangbin and Leon Bridges’ “C-Side” is road trip euphoria

We’re barely three weeks into 2020, and we’ve already been blessed with some of the smoothest fusions of sounds in recent memory. The upcoming collaborative effort between Fort Worth soul singer Leon Bridges, and Houston instrumental psychedelic soul trio Khruangbin—one of our most anticipated releases of 2020—spreads the Texan warmth far and wide through a diverse array of styles.

“C-Side,” a highlight from the two artists’ new EP Texas Sun, runs nearly five minutes and features a soulful, ambient electronic beat with a dash of spacious, upbeat dub. Bridges shines as bright as the southern noon sun over the beat and infectious bassline, serenading and punctuating each word mellifluously. The song plays like the perfect soundtrack for a road trip across open highways.
