Today, Yo La Tengo‘s new album There’s A Riot Going On is out via Matador. It’s a more loosely structured affair, with songs built up from improvisations, and it has a more serene, dreamy sound that makes it another strong entry in the band’s catalog. In his review of the album, Treble’s Patrick Pilch said this of Riot: “The album’s kaleidoscopic palette is an impressive feat considering its patchworked nature, as some of Yo La Tengo’s more traditional tunes continue to shine.”
