Magnolia Electric Co.’s Sojourner box set to be reissued on vinyl
Secretly Canadian has announced a reissue of Magnolia Electric Co.‘s 2007 box set, Sojourner. Long out of print, the box set will be released on vinyl for the first time on April 7. It previously was only available digitally and as a CD/DVD box set. The set includes four separate albums, released only within the Sojourner box set: Nashville Moon, which was recorded by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio; Black Ram, recorded by David Lowery at Sound of Music in Richmond, Virginia; Sun Session, recorded at the legendary Sun Studios; and Shohola, a set of solo recordings from Jason Molina.
Selections from the four sets of recordings were released as a studio album in 2006, Fading Trails.
In 2020, Secretly Canadian released a set of previously unreleased Jason Molina recordings, Eight Gates. Read our Treble 100 essay on Songs: Ohia’s Magnolia Electric Co.
