Mogwai announce new album, The Bad Fire

Mogwai have announced a new album. On January 24, they’ll release The Bad Fire via Temporary Residence. The album was produced by John Congleton, and back in September they shared “God Gets You Back,” which is featured on the album. The next single they’ve shared is “Lion Rumpus.” Check out its new video below, directed by Antony Crook.

The group said in a statement, “After the high of putting out As The Love Continues, the following years were personally hard for us. We’ve dealt with a lot of loss and in Barry’s case a serious family illness with one his daughters. Getting back together to write and record this record felt like a refuge and with John Congleton we feel that we’ve made something special. We often hear from people that our music has helped them get through hard times in their lives and for once I think it applies to us as well.”

Mogwai’s last album was 2021’s As the Love Continues. Their albums Come On Die Young and Young Team are both featured on our list of the 50 Best Post-Rock Albums.
