Music Book Club launches, featuring conversations with Ann Powers, Pamela Des Barres, Dan Charnas and more
DJ and author Tamara Palmer has launched Music Book Club, a new series of conversations with music writers and authors, and will also serve as a future publishing house for Palmer’s music books and zines, starting with a personal history of Bay Area rap. The series is being presented in partnership with 48 Hills, and the first in the series will be a zoom chat with Dan Charnas to discuss his book Dilla Time, on January 28 at 3 p.m. ET.
In the weeks to follow, Music Book Club will also host Danyel Smith, author of Shine Bright: A Very Personal History of Black Women in Pop; Lance Scott Walker, author of DJ Screw: A Life in Slow Revolution; Pamela Des Barres, author of I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie; Ann Powers, author of Traveling: On the Path of Joni Mitchell, and more.
