Questlove nominated for Academy Award for Summer of Soul

The 2022 Academy Award nominees are being announced this morning, and one of the honorees this year is Amir “Questlove” Thompson, for his directorial debut, Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised). The film is nominated for Best Documentary Feature, and it’s the first ever Academy Award nomination for Thompson. Watch the trailer for Summer of Soul below.

Among some of the other notable music nominees at the Oscars this year are Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood for Best Original Score for The Power of the Dog, Beyoncé for Best Original Song for “Be Alive” from King Richard, and Billie Eilish for the title track from No Time to Die.
