Rock Docs Podcast: Nick’s Picks Vol. 6: Miss Americana

Rock Docs is well rested and back from a short hiatus, and made its big comeback two weeks ago with a chat about Shut Up and Play the Hits, the LCD Soundsystem, uh “farewell,” documentary. And now your hosts, Andy Keatts and David Lizerbram, return with another Rock Docs tradition: Nick’s Picks!
For those who didn’t catch it last time, Nick’s Picks is a recurring Rock Docs feature in which friend and fellow music and music-doc enthusiast Nick McCann drops by to talk shop about a doc of his choosing. (Previous installments include Backstage and Sound City.) This week, it’s Miss Americana, a 2020 documentary about Taylor Swift directed by Lana Wilson.
The film follows Swift as she works on her 2019 album Lover while dealing with personal and political issues.
Plus: Is Dave Grohl a megalomaniac? Do we need a new genre called “Pop Docs”? Do you eat burritos?
And while you’re at it, the Rock Docs team suggests you give a read to the Treble 100 entry on Taylor Swift’s Red.
Hear the full episode below and check out the trailer. Miss Americana is available to stream on Netflix.
