Rock Docs Podcast: George Harrison: Living in the Material World with guest Britt Eisnor

After a few previous episodes on Martin Scorsese-directed documentaries, including The Last Waltz and No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, the Rock Docs team is once again going back to Marty’s filmography. This week, hosts Andy Keatts and David Lizerbram view the 2011 documentary George Harrison: Living in the Material World, which focuses on the famed Beatles guitarist, his life and his music.
The movie is about George’s mysticism, more or less, and weaves in and out of his very famous life story. There are some great talking heads, not all of whom are great people (looking at you, Phil Spector) or come off as well as they think they do (now we’re looking at you, Eric Clapton), and one conspicuous absence.
Also, this movie would have you believe that George Harrison only recorded one solo album. It seems like his career as a musician continued on past 1970, but who can really tell for sure?
This week’s guest is Bob Dylan superfan Britt Eisnor, who posts quality Dylan content on Instagram.
Listen to the new episode below, and check out the trailer as well. George Harrison: Living in the Material World is available to stream on Max.
