Sufjan Stevens and Angelo de Augustine announce new album, A Beginner’s Mind
Sufjan Stevens is releasing more music in 2021. Following the five-disc ambient set Convocations, Stevens is releasing a collaborative album with Angelo de Augustine, titled A Beginner’s Mind. It’s due out September 24 via Asthmatic Kitty. The album features 14 songs loosely based on popular films, and its writing was inspired by the shoshin (which translates to “beginner’s mind”), a zen concept of openness and a lack of preconceptions. The duo also employed devices such as the I Ching and Brian Eno’s “Oblique Strategies”. They’ve shared two tracks from the album, “Reach Out” and “Olympus,” which you can check out below. Also take a look at the album’s tracklist and cover art.
