The Beach Boys documentary, book on the way
The Beach Boys are the subject of a new documentary coming to Disney+ this year. Simply titled The Beach Boys, it’ll be released on May 24, and features interviews with original Beach Boys members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, and Al Jardine. It’s directed by Frank Marshall, who directed the Bee Gees documentary How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, and Thom Zimny, who directed the 2018 film Springsteen on Broadway. (We expect Rock Docs is already on it!)
Other interviewees in the film will include Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, Don Was, and more.
Additionally, a new book on the Beach Boys, The Beach Boys By the Beach Boys, will be released on April 2 via Genesis Publications. The book chronicles the history of the legendary group from their origins up to their Independence Day concert in Washington, D.C. in 1980. It also features previously unreleased photos and other material from the Beach Boys’ archive. Check out the cover below.
Last year, we named The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds the number one album of the 1960s.
