Canadian electronic pop duo Purity Ring made an impressive debut in 2012 with Shrines, their first album for 4AD Records. And since then, they’ve been pretty busy with live performances and the occasional collaboration with Danny Brown or Jon Hopkins. But Megan James and Corin Roddick have returned with some new music in the form of a track called “Push Pull.” It should have a familiar sound to anyone who spent a good amount of time with their debut album or early singles, but it feels just a little bit bigger. And as you would probably guess, it’s an intoxicating mixture of pop hooks, woozy synthesizers and ethereal atmosphere. It’s expected to be included on the band’s sophomore album which is slated to be released via 4AD next year.

Purity Ring’s Fineshrine was included on our recent list of 35 Essential 4AD Tracks.
