Members of R.E.M., Nada Surf, The Monkees to play Adam Schlesinger tribute concert
A virtual tribute concert to honor Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Ivy), who died last year after contracting Covid-19, has been scheduled for next month. On May 8, at 5 p.m., a long list of artists will be performing his music via a livestream with all ticket proceeds from the event going toward benefiting MusiCares and the Bowery Electric, the Manhattan venue (currently closed) where the concert was filmed. Among the artists participating in the show are R.E.M.’s Peter Buck, The Monkees’ Mickey Dolenz, Hole’s Courtney Love, Squeeze’s Glenn Tillbrook, Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carraba, Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws, Smashing Pumpkins’ James Iha, The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, comedian Drew Carey, Sean Ono Lennon, Ben Kweller, Ben Lee, Nicole Atkins, Jesse Malin, Girls Against Boys’ Eli Janney, and Schlesinger’s Fountains of Wayne bandmate Jody Porter, who organized the concert.
