Be Your Own Pet announce first new album in 15 years, Mommy

Be Your Own Pet have announced their first new album in 15 years. On August 25, the group will release Mommy via Third Man. The first single from the album is “Worship the Whip.” Check it out below, as well as the band’s upcoming tour dates, their first proper U.S. tour since before their hiatus.

“For better or worse, we all were slapped in the face that it wasn’t as easy on our own,” said guitarist Jonas Stein about the band’s lengthy hiatus. “We were all moderately successful, but nobody found that Be Your Own Pet chemistry.”

“Mommy is the bitch in charge, the one in control,” said vocalist Jemina Pearl added about the album. “It’s a reclamation of myself.”

Last year Be Your Own Pet returned to the stage after going on hiatus more than a decade ago—when we saw them at SXSW in 2008, they ripped.
