David Byrne shares 50-song psychedelia playlist

David Byrne has been known to share periodic playlists with different themes on his website, and this week he’s shared a 50-song playlist focused on psychedelia. It features some favorites that have been reissued through his Luaka Bop label (Os Mutantes, Shuggie Otis, William Onyeabor), plus The Beach Boys, David Bowie, The Kinks, Panda Bear, Pink Floyd, Can, Prince, Spiritualized, Soundgarden, Khruangbin and Sturgill Simpson.

Byrne says in a statement, “Here’s a psychedelic playlist that starts in the late 60’s – naturally- but then keeps going through the decades up until pretty much the present day. The obvious suspects are not here – no Beatles, no Hendryx… But lots of others – and many from other parts of the world. It never went away, just keeps humming along, an antidote to conventional perception and understanding.”
