Wilco‘s Jeff Tweedy has announced a new solo album. On October 23, he’ll release Love is the King via dBPM Records, and has released two new singles, “Guess Again” and “Love is the King.” Hear them below.

Tweedy wrote and recorded the album during lockdown in Chicago, and said in a statement, “At the beginning of the lockdown I started writing country songs to console myself. Folk and country type forms being the shapes that come most easily to me in a comforting way. ‘Guess Again’ is a good example of the success I was having at pushing the world away, counting my blessings — taking stock in my good fortune to have love in my life.” He continues, “A few weeks later things began to sound like ‘Love Is The King’ — a little more frayed around the edges with a lot more fear creeping in. Still hopeful but definitely discovering the limits of my own ability to self soothe.”

Tweedy and his band will also be playing a drive-in show on Friday from McHenry, Illinois, which you can livestream. Find tickets here.

Love is the King follows 2018’s Warm and 2019’s Warmer. Last year Wilco released Ode to Joy.

Wilco is featured on our list of the 30 Best Bands of the Past 30 Years.
