Jens Lekman announces reimagined versions of two of his classic albums

Jens Lekman has announced reimagined versions of two of his classic albums. Oh, You’re So Silent Jens, from 2005, and Night Falls Over Kortedala, from 2007, are being released in newly recorded form via Secretly Canadian. The former, now titled The Cherry Trees Are Still in Blossom, is out now digitally, and The Linden Trees Are Still in Blossom—the reimagined Kortedala—will be out May 4. The original albums were removed from streaming over legal issues concerning uncleared samples. Each album also will include “rare, previously unreleased songs, as well as other contemporaneous material such as cassette diaries,” per a press release.

Lekman discusses the new versions of the albums with Stereogum, noting, “I want it to be obvious that these are re-recordings and that you are able to dig and that you’re able to go through these portals and experience the original recordings by digging. Because they’re still available. It’s not like they’re going to disappear completely. And I think that they lead to an interesting time in music history.” Check out the tracklists below and a new video for the newly recorded version of “Maple Leaves.”
