Listen to new Sun Kil Moon, “Ben’s My Friend.”
Few singer/songwriters can pack as much detail into a song like Mark Kozelek can. There’s a handful with talents on par to his own — Bill Callahan and Destroyer’s Dan Bejar to name a couple. But Koz takes his talent to a more personal, first-person level on “Ben’s My Friend,” the newly released closing track from his upcoming Sun Kil Moon album, Benji. “Ben’s My Friend” is a narrative of his experience going to see The Postal Service live, and how he feels old among a crowd full of youngsters. There are confessions of jealousy and frustration, and it’s an oddly, brutally honest and totally relatable track for anyone who’s made friends with someone more successful than yourself. Listen to the new track over at Stereogum.
Benji will be released Feb. 4 via Caldo Verde. Check out the tracklist below.
