Stream the new Swans album, To Be Kind
On May 13 (that’s just one week from tomorrow if you hadn’t looked at the calendar today), noise-rock/art-destruction titans Swans will release To Be Kind, their double-disc follow-up to 2012’s The Seer. It’s a comparable work of tortured post-punk dirges, excursions through exquisite darkness, and outright harrowing majesty that — so far — has no equal this year in terms of the level of beautiful chaos it conjures up. It’s one of those albums you really have to hear for yourself, which is fortunate, because now you have that chance one week before you can buy it for yourself.
After releasing the Endless Playlisted “A Little God In My Hands” and the equally awesome “Oxygen,” Swans have made the entirety of To Be Kind courtesy of NPR First Listen. It’s a hell of a gift, and an amazing way to start your week. You can fit about three listens of this in one workday; you’ll be spent for the week, but it’ll be worth it.
