Rock Docs Podcast: Scott Walker: 30 Century Man, with guest Zara Hedderman
This week, Rock Docs takes a look back at one of the most eccentric and enigmatic artists of the past 60 years, Scott Walker. Your hosts, Andy Keatts and David Lizerbram, discuss the 2006 film Scott Walker: 30 Century Man directed by Stephen Kijak.
The film is about Scott Walker, who evolved from a ’60s-era teen idol to an enigmatic avant-garde icon whose music pushed the boundaries of space, time, and sanity. For years, nobody knew much about him. Then this documentary came out and revealed that he was actually kind of a chill dude. He’s famed for his legendary Scott series of albums released between 1967 and 1969, as well as his more experimental material, such as 2006’s The Drift.
This week’s guest is music journalist Zara Hedderman, contributor to The Quietus, Aquarium Drunkard, Northern Transmissions, RTÉ Arena, and The IMRO Podcast.
Also, Rock Docs’ recommended read this week on Treble is our recent Treble 100 feature on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, written by Liam Green.
