Thou announce new album, Umbilical

Thou have announced a new album. On May 31, the Louisiana metal group will release Umbilical via Sacred Bones. It follows a pair of recent collaborative records with Mizmor and Emma Ruth Rundle, and today they’ve shared the first single, “I Feel Nothing When You Cry.” Hear it below.

The group said in a statement, in part, “This record is for the radicals, the crackpots, the exiles who have escaped the wasteland of capitulation. This record is for the militants and zealots refusing to surrender to comforts, to practicalities, to thirty pieces of silver. And this record is most especially for the weaklings and malingerers, burdened by capricious indulgence, hunched by the deep wounds of compromise, shuffling in limp approximation, desperately reaching back towards integrity and conviction.”

Thou’s last non-collaborative studio album was 2018’s Magus. Read our Greatest Hits feature with the band.
