Listen: Ghostface Killah – “The Battlefield”
For a guy who supposedly went missing, Ghostface Killah has been awfully productive of late. Last month, he announced he’d be releasing a collaborative album with hip-hop/jazz combo BadBadNotGood, titled Sour Soul. And on Dec. 2, he’s releasing a new concept-driven studio album, titled 36 Seasons. Last week, he debuted the first single from the album, called “Love Don’t Live Here No More.” And today, he’s got another banger of a jam to share with listeners, titled “The Battlefield”. This one’s called “The Battlefield,” and it features guest verses by hip-hop vets AZ, Kool G Rap and Tre Williams. It’s pretty much classic Ghostface in sound — soul samples, lots of exclamation points — but with a little more socially conscious messaging.
In case you needed the reminder, 36 Seasons is a concept album about revenge, in which Ghostface assumes the role of a “hip-hop superhero.” It’s out Dec. 9 via Tommy Boy. Listen to Ghostface Killah’s “The Battlefield” below.
