Ryan Adams says he’s covering Taylor Swift’s 1989 album
Back in 2001, Ryan Adams recorded his own version of The Strokes’ album Is This It, with acoustic instruments (and then released a song titled “This Is It” on 2003’s RockNRoll, which is maybe the answer to that question?). So, it’s not entirely out of the question for him to suggest that he’d record the entirety of another album, and this morning, he announced his plans to record all of Taylor Swift’s 1989. And once Swift caught wind of this, she nearly plotzed. Swift tweets, “is this true??????? I WILL PASS OUT.” Adams confirmed it, and then posted a video of someone in a helmet dancing to “the saddest version of ‘Welcome to New York.'”
The whole saga can be seen on Ryan Adams’ Instagram, and you can follow this as it progresses. We, for one, can’t wait to hear it.
Guaranteed saddest version of Welcome to New York ever – or your tears back
