Earlier this year, New York City Council approved the renaming of the southwest corner of Rivington and Ludlow in the Lower East Side as Beastie Boys Square. On September 9, Beastie Boys Square will be unveiled, with Mike D and Adam Horovitz both in attendance. The event will feature a DJ set from Jon Bless, pop-up activations, live screen printing and more activities. The event is scheduled to take place at 12 p.m. and continue until 2 p.m.

The corner of Rivington and Ludlow is depicted on the cover of the group’s celebrated 1989 album, Paul’s Boutique.

Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique is one of the entries in our Treble 100 series. Their debut album, Licensed to Ill, is also featured on our list of the 50 Best Hip-Hop Debut Albums.
