Mercury Prize 2021 Shortlist announced: Floating Points/Pharoah Sanders, Black Country New Road and more
The Hyundai Mercury Prize, which honors the best British albums each year, has announced its 2021 shortlist. Among the nominees this year are Arlo Parks, Black Country New Road, Floating Points and Pharoah Sanders, Laura Mvula, Mogwai, Sault and Nubya Garcia. The ceremony to pick this year’s Mercury Prize winner will be held on September 9 at London’s Hammersmith Apollo. See the full list of nominees below.
Last year, Michael Kiawanuka took home the Mercury Prize, in a field that also included artists such as Charli XCX and Laura Marling. Past winners have included PJ Harvey, The xx, Primal Scream, Pulp, Portishead and James Blake.
