The Smiths launch interactive timeline
In cool advancements in web technology news: The Smiths shared a new, interactive timeline of the band via their Facebook page, and it’s really cool. The website documents the history of the band, from their earliest gigs and single releases, on up through the releases of their four studio albums — The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead and Strangeways Here We Come — and into the break-up of the band, and subsequent archival releases.
The timeline features album art, tour mementos, handwritten lyrics sheets and other curios, but here’s the coolest part: it features embedded audio from Spotify, so you can listen while you get your musical history lesson. It’s definitely worth a scroll.
And if there’s any question as to why this popped up now, well, that’s an easy one. It’s the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album. Happy Smiths everyone!
