R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver promote democracy on National Voter Registration Day
Today is National Voter Registration Day, and on November 3 we’ll be participating in a crucial and consequential national election in the United States. As such, a lot of artists have shared messages to encourage voter registration and participation in November, and some of them are even adding some extra incentives. (Check to see if you’re registered here.)
My Morning Jacket have released a new 7-inch limited to 2,020 copies, which benefits Fair Fight, which advocates for fair voting practices.
Angel Olsen is giving away test pressings of All Mirrors and Whole New Mess to fans who sign up at Pledge46.
Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon has announced an initiative to personally meet with people who are on the fence about voting. (!)
Plus Run the Jewels already announced that their upcoming RTJ4 live stream will also be an opportunity to help spread the message to get the vote out.
A long list of other artists, including R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen (who’s been doing this since at least 1984), Neko Case, The National and Q-Tip, have also chimed in. See their posts below.
