Listen to the self-titled Viet Cong album stream
On Jan. 20, Calgary noise pop group Viet Cong will release their first full-length album via Flemish Eye and Jagjaguwar. The album follows their Cassette EP from last year, and we’ve already had a taste of it in the form of early single “Continental Shelf,” which landed on our Top 50 Songs of 2014. Starting today, however, the album is available to stream via NPR First Listen, a full week before it’s out. The album will likely remind you a little of Women’s Public Strain, since two members of Viet Cong were in that abstract art-punk group. It also might remind you of a catchier version of arty post-punk groups like This Heat. Either way, it’s an impressive debut, and certainly worth a listen.
